Big Brothers Mentoring

The Big Brothers mentoring program provides boys and young men with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.
The Big Brothers mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of a few hours each and a minimum of a one year commitment.
Big Sisters mentoring

The Big Sisters mentoring program provides girls and young women with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Couples mentoring

Volunteer with your partner or spouse and be matched to a Little Brother or Little Sister. This is a great way for both of you to give the gift of friendship to a child. The Couples mentoring program provides girls and boys with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

In-School Mentoring

The In-School mentoring program provides youth with a role model and a friend to talk to and share the experiences of growing up within school grounds. For one hour a week, mentors meet with their mentee and engage in activities such as board games, crafts or just hang out on school grounds.
The In-School mentoring program requires a weekly visit of one hour for the duration of the school year. Matches do not meet over the summer break or during other school holidays.
Group
Go Squad!

Go Squad! is a ten week in-school group mentoring program for students in Grades 5-9 that provides information and support to youth so that they can make informed choices about active living, balanced eating and overall well-being. Each 60 minute session is loosely structured around four themes: physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem, and communication skills. Delivered in a small group setting (ideally 10 students), with a maximum adult to youth ratio of 1:5, BBBS staff work with trained program volunteers to encourage and facilitate the development of social and leadership skills in a safe, supportive environment. Topics covered include communication, boundaries, empathy, managing stress, resiliency, building positive self-image and more!
Safe Spaces – Lunchtime Club

Safe Spaces is a lunch-time club for students in Grades 3-6 that runs from January through May. Delivered in a small group setting (ideally 10 students) during the school lunch break with a maximum adult to youth ratio of 1:5, BBBS staff work with trained program volunteers to develop mentoring relationships with students in order to facilitate the development of social skills and social problem-solving strategies while also promoting self-esteem in a safe, supportive environment. The aim of this program is to encourage a sense of belonging and community, while growing skills that include active listening, effective communication, self-advocacy and more.
